DTI Conducts Diskwento Caravan for CWM 2016
Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI)—To open the 2016 Consumer Welfare Month activities for Dinagat Islands, a Diskwento Caravan was conducted on September 30-October 1, 2016, at the Provincial Gymnasium, Brgy. Don Ruben, San Jose, PDI. The said caravan offered basic necessities/prime commodities at discounted prices to the vulnerable/marginalized sectors in the community. The 2-day Diskwento Caravan was also conducted in occasion of the weeklong Provincial Agri-Fishery Tourism and Industrial Fair in celebration of the 10th Foundation Day of the Province of Dinagat Islands.
The caravan was made possible through partnership with A&M MPC which supplied the goods and items offered for the said activity. A total of 80 individuals from San Jose as well as visitors from the other municipalities were able to benefit from the discounted goods and items. The 2-day activity registered a gross sales of PhpP227, 259.00.
Although the new DTI guidelines now prescribe the conduct of Diskwento Caravan as part of the recovery efforts in post-disaster/post-calamity communities, DTI-PDI held the activity as part of its consumer advocacy efforts which has already been recognized as part of the annual major activities in the province.
