1st Negosyo Center in Surigao Sur: it’s all about the entrepreneurs
Tandag City – “Today we will be reingeneering entrepreneurial development through the Negosyo Center.” DTI-Surigao del Sur (SdS) Officer in-Charge Romel Oribe told guests in the recent launching of the Negosyo Center in the DTI-SdS Provincial Office last June 30, 2015..He personally led the guests to tour the different areas of the center which he describes further as an interactive one-stop shop and welcoming set up for clients.Lorna Novo, head of Tandag City’s Cooperative Development Unit who represented City Mayor Roxanne C. Pimentel said the city recognizes the importance of the event. She said that the “Go Negosyo Act” is heaven sent. She shared that LGU Tandag City is also doing and pursuing several enterprise and livelihood development projects. “The establishment of the center signals hope for our micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) especially in the much needed marketing assistance.” This, she said will complement the LGU’s efforts in helping facilitate the establishment of a marketing cooperative to help entreprneurs. This was echoed by Manuel Acosta representative of Congressman Philip Pichay of the 1st District. He said the Negosyo Center can further provide complementation for the existing industries including mining through information services for entrepreneurs going into fabrictaion of tools, other allied and support services. Acosta said Congressman Pichay is a businessman himself and knows that any help would be very much appreciated especially among starting businessmen. He thanked DTI for the center and for the help it will be extending to entrepreneurs in the province. Representing Provincial Governor Johnny Pimentel is Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Eleonor D. Momo.
She relayed the Governor’s congratulations to all stakeholders for the establishment of the center.Luke Buniel from the Office of Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino also congratulated the DTI-SdS for the very impressive center. He challenged the members of the Tandag Chamber to volunteer as mentors and to take time to be present at the center. He said the Office of Sen. Bam is committed to support all Negosyo Centers. DTI-Caraga Regional Director Brielgo O. Pagaran in his closing remarks and in a subsequent interview with the local press expressed his hope that the Negosyo Center can help LGUs and civil society organizations in packaging and implementing high impact Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) projects. The Negosyo Center located at the DTI-Surigao del Sur Provincial Office is the first to be established in the province and the 4th in the Caraga Region. The Go Negosyo Act or RA 10644 authored by Senator Aquino provides for the setting up of Negosyo centers in all cities and municipalities in the country. (NC Coordinating Unit-Caraga)
